This past weekend, I ran another session of the 5th Edition D&D campaign I rather loftily named, Death of the Raven Queen. It pits a group of heroes, survivors of the Demonic Intrusion into the Underdark (Out of the Abyss), against forces seeking to disrupt the natural transition to the afterlife for all mortal creatures.
On Friday, they encountered their greatest threat yet - the Timesus. A seemingly immortal foe of unimaginable power and existence, molded out of the material of a Dark Star; now in service to the Demon Prince of Undead, Orcus.
The greatest challenge to this campaign, for me, is to create an interesting storyline with suitable challenges for a group of player who are near (and now at) maximum level. So few campaign get that far for numerous reasons, among them is the fact that it's just HARD to run epic battles at high level and keep them interesting and balanced. I'd like to think I am managing to do so thus far.
So for this last play night, they met with the Timesus, a conflict that would take over an hour to play through with a dramatic conclusion, at least for that night.
You can read it here. I hope those who take the time to do so enjoy it.
